.) My favorite and most successful project this semester was the stencil and spray paint project. This was a really fun project and mine turned out very well. Also, we started off using photoshop and other computer software. Using an effect, I seperated the lights and darks in a value scale. Seperating these values and choosing a spraypaint color for it. Choosing pretty spray paint colors that are corresponding to the darkness of the color in the photo was very important. After that we printed it and got to use projectors and exacto knifes to make our stencils. Laying out the different layers and values was challenging but fun at the same time. I really enjoyed this project. Also, getting to hammer the frame was fun.
.) I think i developed the most from doing the light photo project. We had to alter the shutter speed of the camera so it would let in the motions we were making with our phones & glowsticks. We used paper and our bodies to control how long the light was shown. Making different speeds and types of motions changed what shape and how strong the light was in the ending photo. In order to do a good project we had to get 7 or 8 people to help. It took team work and communitcation to finally get it how we wanted. Easily, it took the most people to do this project. During the project, we had to adapt to the feedback we were getting from the photos every time and know how to make it look better next time.
.) I used techniques and skills learned in class the most in the painting project. I learned how to use the fan brush and used that technique alot. In order to get the texture i was looking for I needed the tippy tappy tree look on tops of my mountains. I also used a dry brush to sweep colors across the sky. If it werent for the paint mixing skills and tricks we had learned earlier, my painting would not be close to as good as it turned out to be. I learned how to appropriately mix colors to get shades and tints, and secondary colors. I used these skills every day in the creation of my painting. The tools given to me were very helpful and expanded my knowledge as an artist.
.) I would say that the least important project that we did skill wise was the hand painting. We DID plan ahead for these but when we started doing them, we didn't use any certain technique or detail. It was just a general painting of an animal that we decided to put on our hands. It was very general and not as complex or difficult a project. It wasn't important because we didn't really learn any skills to use before hand. In other projects we sat down and listened on techniques and the best ways to create things with the brushes and paint. We just kind of painted on our hands for this.
.) Out of all of my projects, I am most personally connected to my value scale drawing. This was the first project I think i really succeeded at. It took me awhile to get not afraid of the dark but in the end i learned alot. It got me to really look at picture and all the high-lights and dark-spots in a picture. From then on in the class I was able to look at references better and be true to the scale values. Also, i really like one direction and Niall Horan and it is a really pretty picture of him. So i wanted to do him justice and make it look good. I was pretty satisfied when i finished with this and i had alot of experience to take away from the project going on in the class.
